On 18/11/2022, on the 104th anniversary of the Republic of Latvia, a monument to the great Russian poet Alexander Pushkin was desecrated in the centre of Riga.
Remarkably, the sculpture was rather quickly cleaned of the carmine-white smear, not by the city authorities, who obviously did not want to anger the jubilant Latvian nationalists, but by a group of citizens who were not indifferent.
